Photo Retouching Project

Original
Retouch

These first two were only used for introducing our class to tools. We first had to straighten the picture a bit using the Image list, Transform, and Rotate. We used the spot healing brush on the crease because it works better on skinny spaces in small doses, .The sky noodle vanished because of the patch tool. The boy in yellow pulled a Houdini because we didn't like him and decided to use the patch tool on him as well. Around him we used the stamp tool to get rid of any messes here and there.

Another practice piece we did in class. I did a level correction to brighten the image. The writing in the back vanished because I used the patch tool to cover it. As previously stated, creases are best to get rid of with the spot healing brush. Various other tools were used on the rest of the blemishes.

Finally we come to the personal photos. This was found in my mom's photo album and I picked it because I wanted to get rid of the light...thing at the bottom. I used the stamp tool on that. It's hard to see, but there is a line going horizontal toward the top of the image. Once again the spot healing brush came in handy. To erase some weird spots in the water I used the patch tool because I didn't want to burr the patterns and buildings.

My second personal photo. Also found in a random photo album from my mom. I didn't like the dead grass, colors, and specks in the background. The pumpkin to the left had white patches on its chin and a mixture of the patch tool and spot healing brush fixed it. The dead grass was corrected through the stamp tool. Can you guess how I changed the colors? If you said levels correction then you are right! Pat on the back for you. Finally I used the spot healing brush on those pesky specks.

Selections Project

Alright I'm going to get this out of the way. I know this isn't very good, but I was just trying to not fail the assignment.

Back to what I am being told to discuss. The people in the image are my friends, and they shall remain nameless until I have permission to post them. We had to come up with a storyline for the project and mine was the classic sad girl and friend comforting her. We took the posing pictures in the school hallway and I plastered them onto backgrounds that made sense. I outlined them entirely in the magnetic lasso tool.

Advanced Compositioning

Yet another practice piece from class. It started out as a man and a bunch of monster part images. We fit all the monster pieces onto the man and colored his skin.

The third headstone was us messing around with textures and filters.

The screaming people were placed there by the elliptical tool and using the combination of edit, paste special, paste onto.

Hands on Recreation

Yep, this assignment turned out terrible. Earlier in the year we hand made an ad for whatever we wanted and that was bad enough. We got the chance to redeem ourselves, but I didn't do too good at that either. Everything was just kind of thrown on here all willy-nilly. Hopefully it doesn't get much worse than this.

Choice Effects Project

Finally we come to a project where I'm proud of the outcome! Well...for one of the images. My favorite band Hollywood Undead is on tour in 2017. I figured it would be a good opportunity to make a project on something I enjoy. I saved images of the group's masks and used The magnetic lasso tool to toss 'em to the poster. (I'm also hoping I didn't pick some random mask and thought it was Funnyman's. Sorry if I messed that up.) The dove and grenade in the background was made with the same process as the masks. I added some drips in hopes to make it look spray painted.

Now to the one I'm less proud of. The tattoo to the left is from my brother's arm and the other one is from google. I used selection tools on both of those. After spending a good deal of time on the text and background the final result was this. Yeah not my best, but better than the Recreation project by a long shot.

Watercolor Background

The following few project were in preparation for making a cover for the Madrigal program at our school. We were given a picture of Jim Morrison and a background image. Starting with Jim Morrison, we adjusted the brightness and contrast on his image to get rid of fine details. We added a watercolor filter to him. Taking a few watercolor brush images we made a brush out of them. Under Jim's layer we splattered some unicorn vomit everywhere. A layer mask is applied to the watercolor layer. On that mask copy Jim's face and then invert the colors. Make his original layer invisible and bam his face is watercolor! Then you just copy and paste or drag the background over.

Abstract Circles

Now I know what you are thinking. "Oh that looks easy," no, no it was not. Took me three attempts to get this. So basically you had to make your own transparent brush and change multiple confusing settings to have it scatter. Then you have three layers of circles and you change the blurriness of each layer to add depth.

Glass text

It may look cool but I still didn't do it exactly right. It's not supposed to be that dark, but I like it better this way. Start by finding a pretty image to use as a background. (You could also make one since there was that circle background.) make you font bold or fancy and make it HUGE. Make sure the color is black. Copy it 3 times so you have 4 total layers. From here on out is a bunch of setting arrangements and it's confusing. Find a professional or something, I'm of no help here.

Text Background
Madrigal Program Cover

Hey the creator does stuff besides be a sarcastic little jerk all the time! Surprise! This was created by multiple one word text layers over my name and changing opacity and other effect settings. The gradient tool helped make that nice red circle in the middle. This took a while to create mostly because I couldn't think of many descriptive words for myself that wouldn't land me in a trip to the guidance counselor's office. Then combined with adrenaline from a crappy day, this was a difficult project for me just because of timing. Note to self, don't try to do a project while preparing yourself mentally to fight someone.

Okay so my school does this dinner and a show thing called a Madrigal and my class was supposed to make a cover for it. My original color scheme was purple and green but the purple blended with the black staff and just didn't look good. The idea was to have the words as wine and pouring into the glass. Then i wanted to have the "A Madrigal Dinner" part bend with the staff but i forgot how to properly do that. So instead of asking like I should have, I improvised and went with a different route. Honestly this looks horrible in JPEG but in a photoshop file I was proud.

Career in Graphic design

This assignment was pretty cut and dry. I found information and slapped it onto a file with some pictures and color.
